Cloud Console release notes

Note

This release notes page covers changes only to the Instabase Cloud Console. For Instabase platform release notes, see the platform release notes page.

Cloud Console release notes include new features, bug fixes, and other important changes. Cloud Console releases use a YEAR.MONTH.RELEASE version numbering system, with the year abbreviated to the final digit. For example, release 3.9.1 is the first release in September of 2023.

4.3.1

The 4.3.1 release introduces secrets management features.

  • Cloud Console now supports secrets management. You can add secrets for a specific deployment using Cloud Console, then reference the secret in user-defined functions (UDFs) in the platform. Secrets are encrypted and stored in AWS Secrets Manager. For more information, see the installation configuration documentation.

3.12.1

The 3.12.1 release adds additional self-service backend network configuration features.

  • If mounting an Amazon S3 bucket as storage for your SaaS deployment, you can now use Cloud Console to generate the required cross-account bucket policies to grant Instabase access to the S3 bucket. Adding an S3 integration lets you access your AWS-managed, restricted S3 bucket from the Instabase platform, without the need for passwords. For more information, see the installation configuration documentation.

This release also includes fixes for various issues affecting Cloud Console login and network policies.

3.11.1

The 3.11.1 release further improves Cloud Console’s self-service networking features.

  • Cloud Console admins can now add and edit inbound network rules and have those changes be applied in real time, without needing to wait for the next maintenance cycle. For more information, see the installation configuration documentation.

3.10.3

The 3.10.3 release expands the networking features introduced in release 3.10.2.

New features and enhancements

  • Public preview | Cloud Console admins can now add and edit inbound network rules for their deployments from the Configurations tab. For more information, see the installation configuration documentation.

    Note

During this phase of public preview, network rule configuration changes made through the Cloud Console UI are not immediately applied. New rules and any changes to existing rules, including disabling or deleting a rule, are applied during the next maintenance cycle. If a change to a network rule must go into effect before the next maintenance cycle, contact Instabase support after making the desired change.

3.10.2

The 3.10.2 release introduces new networking features in public preview.

New features and enhancements

  • Public preview | Cloud Console admins can now review network rules from the new Configurations tab. Admins can view both inbound network rules and the Instabase-defined outbound network rules. During this phase of public preview, network rules are read-only; to add or update a rule, contact Instabase Support. For more information, see the installation configuration documentation.

3.10.1

The 3.10.1 release expands Cloud Console user management features.

New features and enhancements

3.9.2

The 3.9.2 release brings several new user management features.

New features and enhancements

  • A new user management UI lets Cloud Console admins manage user roles in their company, including assigning other users as Cloud Console admins. For more information, see the user management documentation.

3.9.1

Release 3.9.1 includes minor UI updates for an improved user experience.

New features and enhancements

  • The Licenses tab of a deployment’s details page has several enhancements:

    • You can now view license usage by solution. For products that encompass multiple deployed solutions, such as Custom Marketplace Solution or Instabase Marketplace Solution, a new View breakdown by solution button displays. Whenever a deployed solution is run, its usage is tracked and updated. For more information, see the license usage monitoring documentation.

      Info

License usage breakdown by solution is available only for deployed solutions, such as those listed in the Solution Dashboard app.

    • An overall UI update makes the Licenses tab’s appearance in Cloud Console more consistent with the appearance of the Licenses tab in the Admin app.

3.8.1

Release 3.8.1 brings several new features and enhancements to Cloud Console. This release includes new user management, user authentication, and monitoring features.

New features and enhancements

  • Cloud Console now supports a Cloud Console admin user role. Cloud Console admins have a higher level of privileges and more feature access than the default Cloud Console user role. To designate a Cloud Console user as a Cloud Console admin, have your current Instabase admin contact Instabase Support. For more information, see the Cloud Console user management documentation.

  • Cloud Console now supports SAML-based single sign-on (SSO) as an authentication method. Cloud Console admins can configure SAML connections themselves using the Cloud Console SSO configuration UI. For more information, see the Cloud Console authentication documentation.

  • If using basic authentication (email and password credentials) as your user authentication method, all users must now use multi-factor authentication (MFA) when signing in. MFA is enforced and users will be prompted to configure MFA upon next login. MFA requires the use of an authenticator app such as Authy, Duo Mobile, Okta Verify, Google Authenticator, or Microsoft Authenticator. For more information, see the Cloud Console user management documentation.

  • Cloud Console admins can now view license usage and consumption details directly from Cloud Console. Previously, license usage details were visible only in the Admin app within the deployment. For more information, see the license usage monitoring documentation.
