Women at Instabase

Sep 08,2022

Krista attributes her success as a woman in technology to having a growth mindset, not being afraid to fail, and being her authentic self. The support and guidance that she has received along the way has helped her grow into the leader she is today, and she hopes to inspire other women in their journey to becoming successful women in technology.

How have you grown in your current role?

Krista: I started at Instabase as a technical account manager (TAM). The TAM role at Instabase was relatively new at the time, which gave me the opportunity to help establish what it means to be a TAM and interface with people across the organization. I recently moved into a management role, which has been another great learning experience. Over the past few months, I’ve been building out our AMER team and refining the TAM foundation that was set last year. Being in management has been very rewarding thus far, and I am looking forward to what’s to come in H2 and beyond.

What does being a successful woman in technology mean to you?

Krista: To me, being a successful woman in technology means having the space to do your best work and be yourself. The most successful women I’ve seen leverage a growth mindset, are not afraid to fail, find roles that allow their strengths to shine, and are authentic which gives them the freedom to focus on producing their best work.

Have you had any mentors or inspirational women that have had an impact on you?

Krista: Yes, I am fortunate to have a mentor who has had a very positive impact on my career. At my last company, she helped onboard me to a team that trended towards candidates that had far more experience than I had at the time. She took the time to ramp me up, teach me best practices, and help me excel in the role. She took a bet on me, which I will always be grateful for. We still keep in touch, and meet every couple of months to discuss my career.

Do you have any advice for women starting in their careers?

Krista: I have three pieces of advice for women starting their careers:

  • SEEK out new challenges
Pushing yourself past your comfort zone will help you realize your full potential
  • DON’T be afraid to advocate for yourself
Be vocal about what you’ve accomplished and what you want in your career
  • PRIORITIZE your physical and mental health
You can’t bring your best self to work if you aren’t meeting your personal needs. Take out time each day to keep yourself happy and healthy
